The Stanwood-Camano School Board recognized two Shining Stars and accepted an $18,050 donation during its regular board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.
The large donation is courtesy the Warm Beach Free Methodist Church in support of the Food Services program to help reduce student school lunch debt. The board also accepted a $553 donation in school rebates from Firefly Images for Stanwood Elementary School and a $780 donation of YMCA memberships for 10 adult students from the Stanwood High School Transition Program.
Twin City Elementary principal Jennifer Allen provided an update on its School Improvement and Annual Action Plan and then presented its Shining Star Award to Wyatt Nickell.
Stanwood Elementary principal Staci Lauinger then honored her school’s Shining Star Award recipient: Carter Almberg.
Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh provided an Enrollment Report, and Deputy Superintendent Ryan Ovenell updated the board on a staff Safety Audit.
The board then unanimously approved its consent agenda.
