MINUTES

The statutory waivers/suspensions of the Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA) cited in the Governor's Proclamation 20-28.15 have been extended, "...until the termination of the state of emergency pursuant to RCW 43.06.210, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first."

Under the new phasing approach used by the Governor's office, regions in Phase 3 have the option to hold meetings remotely or in-person. The June 29, 2021 Special Board Meeting was held remotely using the Zoom platform.

Natalie Hagglund called the Special Meeting to order at 8:00 AM.

Board Members Present: Al Schreiber, Charlotte Murry, Ken Christoferson, Miranda Evans, Natalie Hagglund

Natalie Hagglund led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Ken Christoferson moved to approve the June 29, 2021 Special Meeting Agenda; seconded by Al Schreiber.

Passed - Unanimously

CONSENT AGENDA
Natalie Hagglund asked the board if there were any items they wished to pull and offered an opportunity for anyone in attendance to speak to items on the Consent Agenda. There were no comments or requests.

Miranda Evans moved to approve Consent Agenda items 1 and 2 as listed; seconded by Al Schreiber.

Passed - Unanimously

  1. Approval of the Amendment to the 2021-2024 Superintendent Contract for reimbursement of moving expenses for the 2021-2022 contract year only. That the Board approves the Amendment to the 2021-2024 Superintendent Contract for reimbursement of moving expenses for the 2021-2022 contract year only, dated June 29, 2021. (MS)

  2. Approval of the Personnel Consent Agenda. That the Board approves the Personnel Consent Agenda, including certificated/classified new hires, resignations, leave requests, retirements, and travel, dated June 29, 2021. (MS)

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Charlotte Murry shared a tribute in honor of retiring superintendent Jean Shumate and announced the new Stanwood High School Library will be dedicated in her honor. Natalie Hagglund added the Board is honored to make this dedication so those using the library will remember the legacy Dr. Shumate has left behind. Director Hagglund added the district will work on signage and invite Dr. Shumate back to be part of a formal dedication.
