Free Summer Meals Program available again
Posted on 05/17/2024

Good nutrition is essential for effective learning every day — all year long. Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does the need for good nutrition. Summer meal programs help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months.

The Stanwood-Camano School District is again offering its free Summer Food Service Program for all children ages 18 and younger. The program is open to all families and doesn’t ask for any paperwork — kids can just drop in and grab a meal.

“We’re delighted that we’re able to serve our community in this way during the summer. We don’t want children to go without meals during the summer,” said Don Vennetti, the district’s Director of Food Services.

The summer meal program will be offered Monday through Friday at the following locations:

  • Twin City Elementary (26211 72nd Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292)

Dates: June 24 - August 23

Breakfast: 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Lunch: 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

  • Stanwood High School (7400 272nd Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292)

Dates: July 29 - August 23

Breakfast: 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Lunch: 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

This federally-funded program is sponsored by many organizations throughout our state. Children may participate in summer meals programs outside of their communities.

In addition, the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank is offering food for all families with school-aged youth, beginning June 19.

This Summer Food Program will offer a rotating menu of staple items to help supplement food needs for kids while school is out of session.

Families can pick up Summer Food at the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
