Kathy Buckingham, Elger Bay Elementary Paraeducator, was named Classified Employee of the Year 2011-12. Kathy is pictured (center) surrounded by students on the playground after the surprise announcement during her scheduled assisgnment. Students and staff joined her during their lunches to celebrate her award. The Board of Directors recognized her at the June 5th board meeting.
Kathy was honored for her dedication and focus on assisting students and teachers. She looks for innovative ways to help with lessons in the classroom, playground or in the hallways. Kathy encourages her fellow employees with her positive attitude for life. She often shares her excitement with others of how a student touched her heart or her funny bone.
Kathy also plays an active role in the community and in the school by engaging students and staff in the charitable organization, Soldiers' Angels. She organizes making blankets and care kits for the wounded men and women in the military, as well as sending cards to the troops overseas during the holidays.
Kathy Buckingham received the Classified Employee of the Month Award for the month of October 2011. She was nominated by Janet Peterson and Leslie Whaley, Elger Bay Elementary office staff.
