Stanwood Elementary's office staff, Ruth Turner and Annie Houk, received the Classified Employee of the Month award for April 2010. These two exceptional ladies have worked for the Stanwood-Camano School District for 45 years total. Ruth has twenty-five years of service and Annie has twenty years. The Board of Directors celebrated their award at the April 20th board meeting.
Ruth and Annie were nominated by the Stanwood
Elementary staff. In the nomination, read by Tessa Karlberg on behalf
of the staff, they said that a child's Stanwood Elementary career spans
far longer than the six years they learn within its walls. Students
often return to visit Ruth and Annie and to accept the smiles and
hugs. Tessa read, "Once our students begin to partake in the K-5
comings and goings Ruth and Annie see to it that each child is
successful in every way. It is an experience filled with many
everlasting and meaningful memories."
The Classified Employee of the Month recognition award is given monthly
throughout the school year. The awards are sponsored by Sterling
Savings Bank (Stanwood branch) and Lenz Enterprises, in partnership
with Dos Reales and Stanwood Cinemas.
