The Board of Directors have recognized the following Classified Employees of the Month.
DECEMBER - the Transportation Department for their contributions to our students and community with their "Fill the Bus" food drive campaign. A few of the drivers, mechanics, and office staff were available for the photo.

At the November 15th board meeting the Board of Directors recognized employees Judi Brown, Classified Employee of the Month for October and Brian May as the Teacher of the Month for October. Ms. Brown works at Stanwood Elementary in the support center and was nominated for the award by Patty Maynick, who read her nomination. Mr. May teaches history and social studies at Stanwood Middle School, and was nominated by Cammy Carlson, Sam Smothermon and students Jackson Houston and Dominick Maxwell. Congratulations to our employees!
The awards are sponsored by Umpqua Bank in partnership with Dos Reales and Stanwood Cinemas.

The Board of Directors will recognize the Classified Employee of the Month (March), Roseann Lindell, Stanwood High School Lead Cook, and the Teacher of the Month (March), Riita Dunning, Utsalady Elementary 1st Grade Teacher, at the Regular Board Meeting, April 19, 2016. The meeting is held in the Administration & Resource Center Boardroom at 7:00 PM. The public is invited to attend.
Other awards will be given to the Cedarhome Elementary and Utsalady Elementary Shining Stars and Volunteers.

The Board of Directors recognized Annie Houk as the Classified Employee of the Month and Bryan Olsen as the Teacher of the Month for September 2015 at the October 20th regular board meeting.
Annie Houk has worked for the Stanwood-Camano School District for 26 years! She began her career at Stanwood Middle School supervising the playground and for 7 years was a clerical aide before becoming a secretary for 3 years. In 2000 she was hired as the secretary at Stanwood Elementary where she has worked for the past 15 years. Annie was nominated by Debbie Carr, parent and volunteer.
Bryan Olsen has taught history at Stanwood High School for the past 8 years. He also advises History Day and Link Crew and has been active on the Building Leadership Team and was the previous Chess Team Advisor. Bryan's nominations were written by Ella Blackwood, teacher and parent, and Robin Blackwood, former student.

Ken Sims (left) and Lynne Donovan (right) was selected as the Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year for the 2013-14 school year. The Board of Directors formally recognized them at the regular board meeting May 20, 2014.
The Board also honored the following retirees for their service to education:
Certificated Staff: Judy Alexander, Therese Follette, Linda Littlefield, Marianne McGarry-Bloom, Kathryn Mietus, Katherine Norris, Delores Osterhaus, Robin Ringland, Vivian Schnaar, Karol Steele, Brenda Taylor, and Kathleen Tredo.
Classified Staff: Edwin Bentley, Naomi Carlson, Carol Covert, David Diaz, Doug Durand, Victor Loverro, Gail Olsen, Eva Pedersen, and Alan Robb.

(pictured left to right), were recognized as the Teachers of the Month for October at the Board of Directors meeting November 20th. Bobbi (unable to attend) and Madonna teach the Active Student Support for Independence, Skills and Transition (ASSIST) program at Stanwood High School.
Cindy Cutforth (pictured far right) was selected as the Classified Employee of the Month for October. Cindy is the Office Manager at Lincoln Hill High School and Lincoln Academy. Due to a conflict, Cindy's recognition has been rescheduled to the December 4th board meeting.
