Board of Directors
The Stanwood-Camano School Board establishes policy for the School District, adopts the annual operating budgets, hires the Superintendent, employs school personnel as recommended by the Superintendent, and exercises other powers that are established by Washington state law. The Board of Directors consists of five citizens who reside within the School District area who are elected by voters to serve four-year terms in office.

Patrick Patterson
Director District 1

Patrick Patterson was elected to a four-year term
in November 2005. He and his wife, Jeannie, have lived in Warm Beach
for 21 years, where he is currently serving as Director of
Administration at Warm Beach Camp. Their son, Kaleb, attends Twin City
Elementary. Patrick appreciates the positive role the school district plays
in educating children and building a healthy community.

Roger Myers, President

Roger Myers was elected in November 2001 and is currently serving
as Board President. Roger has been in the field of education since 1961
serving as a mathematics and physical education teacher, coach,
assistant high school principal, and athletic director for the Edmonds
School District. Roger and his wife Lynette, have three grown children.
The Myers make their home on Camano Island.

Julie Dean, Vice-President

Julie Dean was elected to a four-year term in
November 2007. Julie, RN and her husband John have lived on Camano
Island for 26 years. She is a Patient Care Coordinator for Skagit
Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. Julie has been involved in
Stanwood-Camano Co-op preschool, Stanwood-Camano Community Fair, and
Camano Island Fire and Rescue, where she served as a volunteer
firefighter and EMT. Julie is the mother of two adult children and has
one grandson.

Ken Christoferson
Director District 4

Ken Christoferson was elected to a four-year term in November of 2007.
He previously served on the board from 1995-1999 and again from 2003-2007. Ken and his wife,
Barbara, have lived in the community their entire lives raising their
two sons, Erik and Andrew and daughter, Alyssa. Both parents and their
children graduated from Stanwood High School. The Christoferson's own
and operate a business in the community.

Darlene Hartley
Director District At-Large

Darlene Hartley was elected to a four-year term in November 2007. She has served on the board since the
fall of 2003. She received her BA from Seattle Pacific University
(College) in 1965 and MEd from Central Washington University in 1989.
She is a retired elementary school teacher and principal. Darlene's
daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons live in Stanwood and her mother
lives in the Warm Beach Senior Adult Community. Darlene appreciates the
opportunity to serve on community and educational boards that work for
the betterment of children and families.
