The purpose of the McKinney-Vento Act is to provide educational services to homeless students which are equal to all other enrolled students, and ensure that homeless children and youth have equal opportunities to enroll in, attend, and be successful in school. Your child may qualify as homeless if you are:
- sharing housing with others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar reason.
- living in a motel, hotel, trailer park or camping grounds due to lack of adequate living accommodations
- guardian for a child in temporary, emergency foster care
Each school in Stanwood-Camano School District has a homeless liaison (school counselor or intervention specialist) or you may contact Cayli Odegard, Family Support Specialist and McKinney Vento Liaison, at 360-629-1286. Please contact the liaison at your child’s school or the District liaison if you think your child may qualify as homeless.
